To save resources and energy, a concept of lightweight gears for wind turbine gearboxes is being pursued. In order to meet the high requirements for the service life of the gears of more than 20 years under dynamic loads, an inside sensor system for load monitoring is elaborated.
The goal of the project is to develop and validate an automated detection of load peaks based on the data of the inside sensor system. For this purpose, the signals of the inside sensor system must first be calibrated in normal operation on a test stand and characteristic features of load peaks must be identified. Finally, the load peak detection shall be validated on a dynamically loaded lightweight gear.
